What is the Hours Calculator?
The Hours Calculator helps employees, freelancers, and managers compute total work hours, regular hours, overtime, and gross pay. It supports both individual shift mode and weekly summary mode with configurable overtime thresholds.
How to Use
- Select Daily Shifts to add multiple time entries, or Weekly to enter hours per day.
- Enter start time, end time, and break duration for each shift (daily mode), or enter total hours per weekday (weekly mode).
- Set your hourly rate and overtime thresholds if needed.
- Click Calculate to see total hours, regular vs overtime breakdown, and estimated pay.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is overtime calculated?
Overtime is calculated per shift when daily hours exceed the daily threshold, and across the week when total hours exceed the weekly threshold. The larger overtime amount is used.
Can I add multiple shifts?
Yes. In Daily Shifts mode, click the + Add Shift button to add as many rows as you need. You can also remove individual rows.
Does the calculator handle AM/PM?
Yes. Enter times in 12-hour format with AM or PM (e.g., 9:00 AM, 5:30 PM), or use 24-hour format. The calculator automatically parses both.
Is my pay data stored?
No. All calculations run locally in your browser. No information is sent to any server.
