What is the Dew Point Calculator?
The Dew Point Calculator computes the temperature at which air becomes saturated with moisture and condensation begins. It uses the simplified Magnus formula and provides a comfort assessment.
How to Use
- Select your temperature unit (Celsius or Fahrenheit).
- Enter the air temperature and relative humidity.
- Click Calculate Dew Point to see the dew point and comfort level.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is dew point?
Dew point is the temperature to which air must be cooled to become saturated with water vapor. When the air temperature drops to the dew point, dew, fog, or clouds can form.
Why is dew point better than relative humidity?
Dew point is an absolute measure of moisture in the air and does not change with temperature. Relative humidity changes as temperature changes, making dew point a more stable indicator of comfort.
What is a comfortable dew point?
Dew points below 10°C (50°F) feel dry. Between 10°C and 16°C feels comfortable. Above 16°C it starts to feel humid, and above 18°C it can feel oppressive.
Can dew point be higher than air temperature?
No. Dew point cannot exceed the actual air temperature. If the two are equal, the relative humidity is 100%.
