About the Statistics Calculator
What is Descriptive Statistics?
Descriptive statistics summarize and describe the main features of a dataset. They include measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode), dispersion (range, variance, standard deviation), and shape (skewness).
How to Use
Enter your dataset as comma-separated numbers and click Calculate. The tool computes a comprehensive set of descriptive statistics instantly.
What is the difference between sample and population standard deviation?
Population SD divides by n and describes the entire dataset. Sample SD divides by n-1 and estimates the standard deviation of a larger population from which the sample was drawn.
How are quartiles calculated?
The data is sorted, and Q1 is the median of the lower half while Q3 is the median of the upper half. IQR is Q3 minus Q1.
What does skewness tell me?
Skewness measures asymmetry. Positive skewness indicates a longer tail on the right; negative skewness indicates a longer tail on the left. Near zero suggests a symmetric distribution.
Is this calculator free?
